Simone Ubaldi is a ghostwriter, freelance journalist and film critic.

Her writing has been published extensively in The Guardian, The Age, The Monthly, triple j Mag, Meanjin, Junkee, Vice and various other publications, and was once translated into Portuguese. She was a long-time music columnist for Beat Magazine in Melbourne.

As a radio producer, Simone created stories for SBS online, ABC Radio National, triple j and AMRAP. She now appears regularly on Triple R 102.7fm as The Breakfasters’ resident film critic and was a regular contributor to Film Buff’s Forecast.

In 2018, she was selected for Film Victoria’s episodic screenwriting incubator, Plot Twist. That same year, she was shortlisted for the Sundance Screenwriting Lab, with co-writer Mark Fantasia.

Simone has co-authored five books, including memoirs of Bon Scott and Mark ‘Chopper’ Read. Her sixth book is currently in development for Allen & Unwin.

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, but seems to have beat it. That’s her dog George in the picture.
